First, you have to know that a subscription request is created in the same way you create any other kind of request. The only difference is that when making it, you need to click on the option that reads “Is this a recurring subscription?”, then you’ll have to choose whether you want a monthly or annual subscription.

To learn more about making requests, please go to our article “How to Create a New Request?”.

How does it work?

If you choose this option a new request will be generated automatically each month or year with the same details of your original request (price, URL, card number). The card will always have the same details, so after you purchased your resource the first time, you do not need to go to your provider’s page the next time you have to pay. Your provider will charge your card monthly or yearly automatically.

Cancelling a subscription

To do this you’d need to go to your provider’s website and cancel your subscription there, we strongly recommend deleting your card’s details as well. Additionally, you’d have to go to your Sunlight request and cancel your subscription, in this way you’ll prevent a new request to be generated for the next period.

Checking my subscriptions on Sunlight

To see these requests you’d need to click on your profile picture on the left top corner of the sidebar menu. Then, go to your profile and click on the “Request” tab, here you’ll see all your subscriptions.

If you click to open one of them, you’ll see on the left how many times your card has been charged for the same resource, and on your right the option to cancel it.

Take into consideration that on the subscription section you’ll see your original requests; however, if you go to the “All” section, you will see each separate request that was created each month or year.

To answer a few questions you may have:

1. What happens if my subscription has a free trial?

In this case, there’s nothing to be worried about. Unless other requests, subscriptions requests do not expire, so your card will be active until the provider charges.

2. What happens if my subscription is not monthly or annual?

Here you have two options: one, you could create a normal request each time you need to pay with your card. In this case, if your card details are different, you’d need to go to the provider’s website and update it there; two, you could create a subscription request and wait for it to be charged, since it does not expire, it would remain active until the card is used. We also recommend contacting our support team, so they can give you the best option for you.

3. What happens if my card gets declined or the provider does not accept Sunlight cards?

If your card gets declined, please contact our Support team so they can take a look at your card. On the other hand, if the provider does not accept our prepaid cards, then we can offer you to go with our reimbursement process, which will work in the same way as other reimbursements.
